P.J. Verrecchia (criminal justice) was quoted in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, which discussed the possibility that Allegheny County might close of privatize its juvenile detention center:
[Privatization] means cutbacks on pay and training, which could hurt the quality of the facility, said P.J. Verrecchia, a former juvenile probation office who coordinates York College's criminal justice program.
In the long run, privatizing juvenile centers usually doesn't improve a system or even save money, he said.
