The Schmidt Library staff is excited to launch YCP Summon, a new search engine that will enable users to search all of the Library’s vast resources with a single query. YCP Summon searches over 194 million records for items the Library owns, licenses, or makes available through open sources.
“We are one of the first colleges in the country to launch this new service,” said Susan Campbell, Schmidt Library director. “It is in beta-test phase as we work to solve some of the early glitches we have discovered. There is a feedback button in YCP Summon to report questions, comments, and problems.
I think the key thing about this service is that it is assessment-driven. This search engine gives both the simple search and all the faceted searching that our best databases have, which allows for the more advanced searching that faculty and some students prefer. The second key factor is access to over 194 million items from a single search. We could never approach this before,” said Campbell.
