Business professor Gerald Patnode was quoted in a story on New Jersey re-branding its image. Several experts, including Patnode, were asked what themes should be stressed:
Our sense of humor. "We, in general, like people and institutions that can laugh at themselves. It is somehow endearing. Instead of running from the image (portrayed on shows such as 'Jersey Shore') I would tongue-in-cheek embrace it, maybe even promote (it as) the land of interesting and different people: Come to Jersey. You have to see this to believe it! It's kind of like a trip to the zoo."

Of course we embrace it, we're the ones making money off of it. Sure, you can come see the "zoo"; I'll be the one taking your money when you get here. And besides the GSP can use another lane, right?
