Recession affects financial aid for college students

June 13, 2009 York Daily Record/Sunday News

Financial Aid Director Calvin Williams was interviewed for a story on the recession affecting financial aid, saying that the College has seen an increase recently in requests for student aid. He said York is offering $8.5 million of institutional aid for students in the 2009-10 school year, compared with $6.7 million the year before.

"The budget goes up normally because tuition goes up," he said about the increase in budgeted aid. "But nothing like that. Most of that increase is because of the economy."
