Senior graphic design major buries time capsule she created

May 6, 2010

Jamie Shinault, a senior graphic design major at York College, plans to leave a bit of herself behind after graduation on May 15.  For her senior thesis, she created Project Hourglass, which includes a time capsule that was buried on campus on May 7.

“My idea was to create something visually pleasing for my graphic design senior exhibit, as well as capture the time spent doing it,” said Shinault, a resident of Eldersburg, Md. “With this in mind, I created a booklet, a documentary DVD, a logo, and the capsule.”

Shinault’s creation resided in York College Gallery until May 7, when it was buried in the Sculpture Garden by Evelyn and Earle Wolf Hall.  Included in the display were items that she has been collecting from others on campus to be placed in the time capsule, which will be opened in 2040.
