York College senior Samantha Ferguson, a finance major and entrepreneurship minor from York, will showcase pieces from her clothing line, Donnaccia, during a fashion show at 7 p.m., March 27, in the College’s Collegiate Performing Arts Center. This event is open to the public.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with an admission charge of $5. Half of the proceeds will go to York College’s Public Relations Student Society of America, and the other half will be donated to Access York. Students wearing pink staff shirts will be in place at the entrances to direct the audience to the show. No cameras or camcorders will be permitted during the show; all violators will be removed.
Ferguson is a 2007 graduate from William Penn Senior High School. She started designing and sewing in high school, when she created her own homecoming and prom dresses. She hopes to one day be a recognized designer and inspire other women to follow their dreams.
Donnaccia (http://www.onlyforthebaddest.com/) is a clothing line that provides unique clothing, styles, cuts, fabrics, and embellishments. The pieces are designed to be jaw-dropping and eye-catching like strong independent women, according to Ferguson. “The line represents women who carry themselves and uphold their positions,” she said. “These are women who do not follow the norms of society, because, after all, women who follow the rules do not make history.”
