FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

YORK, Pa. — An unconventional percussion group will play at 8 p.m., May 2, in the parking lot of Penn and Beard halls at York College of Pennsylvania. The performance by Recycled Percussion is open to the public free of charge. More information is available by calling 717-815-1473.

Recycled Percussion does not use drums, but instead cooking pots, an empty fire extinguisher, folding chairs, ladders and even the kitchen sink. The group has performed at NBA and NFL half-time shows and opened for Godsmack. Originally from New Hampshire, Recycled Percussion is composed of Justin Spencer, Greg Kassapis and Ryan Vezina.

Spencer was inspired by Larry Wright, who started the bucket scene in New York streets and subway stations. “Some people make comparisons to Stomp and things like that,” he said. “But they’re not even close to what we’re doing. Our stuff has far more intense drumming than you’d find with Stomp or Blue Man Group.”

A student-run organization, CAB offers events such as comedians, magicians, bus trips, Wii tournaments, karaoke, bingo and movie showings. Funded through the Student Activities fund, CAB is open to all full- and part-time students who meet academic criteria.

Located in southcentral Pennsylvania, York College offers more than 50 baccalaureate majors in professional programs, the sciences and humanities to its 4,600 undergraduate students. With a 15:1 student-to-faculty ratio and distinctive mentoring programs, York provides an environment that emphasizes close personal attention to students from 32 states and 30 countries.
