York College has for several years sponsored the Central PA Magazine Writing Contest. Entries are currently being sought for the competition; three winning entries will be chosen in April and will be awarded cash prizes: $500 for first prize, $300 for second prize and $200 for third prize.
Pennsylvania residents – including students studying at Pennsylvania schools, universities and college – are eligible to enter the Writing Contest. Entries can be fiction or nonfiction, humorous or serious, personal essays or short stories. Central PA will be accepting original, unpublished work not exceeding 1,500 words. Entries must be postmarked by Jan. 16, 2010.
A distinguished panel of professional area communicators, including York College faculty, will conduct final judging. The winners will be notified by mail prior to the publication of the April 2010 issue of Central PA. All winners will be announced in the April issue, and the First Place entry will be published in this issue.
